I love learning and sharing the love with others. It is my goal to help students realize their potential and find their own joy in learning. I teach composition and literature at a local university and look forward to each day in the classroom. Now I want to expand my teaching experiences to work one-on-one with students to help them learn the skills and gain the confidence to succeed. I am looking to work as a tutor either in person or online. I will take short- or long-term students. I wi... Read more

Students with ADD or ADHD need teachers and tutors who understand their learning style. They get bored easily. I have discovered that many of these students can still hear you when it appears they are not paying attention. Often, students get in trouble at school for this. I also highly encourage the use of "fidgets" for children with ADD or ADHD. A fidget is a small object that children hold in their hand and "fidget" with while participating in a lesson. This allows the child to exercise his or her need to more or be doing something while still focusing on the lesson! I do not punish student Read more

I have researched Aspergers and Non-Verbal Learning Disorder in great detail, dealt with special education matters in the Public School and Private School systems, and also worked closely with therapists, psychiatrists, school guidance counselors, and teachers. I have attended lectures and symposiums on Aspergers and Non-Verbal Learning Disorder at Yale and NYU and was also invited to the White House by Tipper Gore and President Clinton to attend and contribute to the White House Conference on Mental Health in 1999. I'm passionate about learning and I want to share that passion.
I have always loved learning and I hope to pass that love on to everyone student I come across. English is my strength, but I can work with just about anything. I've maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my college experience and I know that dedication can make or break a grade. For the next few years I'll be working towards a degree in Library Sciences. I'm adept with MLA and APA format, I've taken computer classes for Microsoft Office, and if I don't know an answer, I have the resources to search... Read more

Experienced Middle and High School Tutor Specializing in English.
I'm Hilary. I have been a teacher for 35 years, and although I recently retired from full time teaching, I am still helping children and adults learn in a variety of settings, because that is not just my avocation, but my passion. I was one of those people who tried to stay in school and get as many degrees as I could. So when I got out of college, I naturally gravitated to education. I have taught just about every subject to just about every student age and ability level, but to me the m... Read more

The most satisfying work I have done has been 20+ years working with and teaching children and adults (and their parents) with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD - autism, Asperger’s, PDD) and ADHD. I have training and experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) which is my preferred method for working on behavioral issues, and can assist with environmental supports and adaptation, both at home and in school. I am a Pennsylvania certified Special Education teacher, with years of teaching experience for students with ASD, at both the high school and Early Intervention level (age 3-6). In Read more

Certified Teacher and High School Counselor: 10+ years experience
I am a high school counselor who specializes in the college application process. I previously taught high school math and am certified to teach high school English. I've been tutoring for over 10 years, focusing on college applications, test prep (SAT and ACT, as well as GRE and GED), math, and English for all grade levels. In all my time working in education, tutoring is the most rewarding because it allows me to work with a student one-on-one, get to know them, and help t... Read more
