Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ ADHD) is a biological, brain based condition that is characterized by poor attention and distractibility and/or hyperactive and impulsive behaviors. It is one of the most common disorders that develop in children. My middle child was diagnosed with these disorders and we have worked closely with his physician and teachers to help him achieve the best grades that he can achieve. Many of my students that I work with daily have ADD or ADHD and there is nothing that they cannot achieve! Read more

Patient & Knowledgeable Tutor!
I have worked as a language support teacher for ADHD kids (aged 4-16). I believe kids with attention deficit disorder respond best to specific goals and daily positive reinforcement, as well as worthwhile rewards. I always try to make sure that I divide big assignments into smaller ones, and allow children frequent breaks. Beside that, making time to speak to the student individually always helps. Read more

The ages of the students I have helped range from 8-17. The majority of the students I have helped has been in the family's home. There are less distractions and it is more conducive to stay on a schedule of instruction. The home is usually their "comfort zone" and I do not want to introduce any changes which are not beneficial. When I was teaching at the clinical hospital the facility was key access only and the classroom curriculum was individua Read more
