Jim

Caltech alumnus - SAT/ACT, College Apps, Math/Physics, French/Mandarin

Over the years I've had several students in middle school and high school whose parents had them in treatment for ADD/ADHD. I've been very successful in teaching them mathematics and writing mechanics, and greatly improving their grades. It requires a teacher with great patience who's able to redirect the student's attention to their studies and to teach them in a fun and engaging manner that won't make it seem like a chore. I'd welcome the opportunity to help your ADD/ADHD student excel as well. Read more

I can work with students one-on-one or in a group setting. That choice is yours. As far as my teaching style is concerned, I prefer the lecture-type setting when lessons about history and/or political science are concerned as well as lecture style if it is music history. I was a substitute teacher in the Bibb Public Schools System from 2000 to 2009 and I am a product of that same school system. I think that education can be saved but we have to work together as a team. That means student... Read more

Irma has been amazing with my daughter in helping her with her college essays. She is very patient and has given her great direction toward completing this task.
John provided excellent tutoring help and training via Skype. He reviewed my worksheets and explained/simplified concepts I was having difficulty in understanding. John is very accommodating with scheduling tutoring sessions. I am very pleased with what I learned in the tutoring session from John, and I will schedule additional tutoring sessions with John on upcoming chapters and worksheets.
Carol M. was attentive to detail and strove to gain perspective on how to help my daughter in vocabulary, writing for the interest of the audience, and use of correct grammar. She provided many materials to help not only with the tutoring sessions, but also for her school work in the future. She also encouraged my daughter by including material two grades above her current level to see how my daughter would fare in comparison to eighth grade work. Overall it was a great experience and valuable to us as we move forward. I hold Carol in the highest regard.
Louise B is a wonderful teacher who has great experiences in teaching English- reading, writing, speaking, AP English classes include English Literature/ACT/SAT prep. The amazing, outstanding thing about Louise is she makes the class fun and dynamic and inspire the students work hard to achieve their fullness potential . My daughter looks forward to her class each week with Louise. Louise is also well-organized/efficient so that you get maximum out of your lessons and goals achieved. She is terrific with feedback and communications so the students know the expectations clearly and directly. In addition, I wish I find Louise sooner as my daughter has a speaking issue that nobody for the past 10 years in her school is interested to help. Louise picked up this speaking issue right away and is enthusiastic to help her so that her speaking will catch up her academic achievements soon. I am confident that Louise could do this because she is a very capable and caring teacher. I highly recommend Louise B. with an A+ rating.
