Stephen

Patient algebra, geometry, math in GED/ASVAB, history, pol.sci. tutor

My tutoring work and experience extends into Algebra 2. While I need to brush up on logarithms when I tutor students in this subject, all other areas I find easy and enjoyable. I have found it's easy to help students advance through much of algebra 2 with only one on one attention. I went through four years of high school mathematics myself which included trig and pre-calculus. I also completed a year of calculus in college. While I'm comfortable with all we covered in high school, I don't tutor in calculus. Read more

17 years of teaching experience - include K-12

Are you having difficulty learning a skill or concept? Using the Growth Mindset you are certainly allowed to make mistakes; that's how we learn. When I teach, I prefer to use the inquiry method along with "I do", "We do" and "You do". In this way, learners feel safe and also get to think critically and for themselves. I intend to tailor my teaching to students' individual needs and learning styles. I'm well versed in Common Core Curriculum and have many "tools" to guide learning. I am aw... Read more

Joseph

Joseph Math NYC

Math should not be hard to understand if explained the right way. Unfortunately most teachers lack the passion and/or the know-how to pass it on. Together we will learn how to address new problems and gain confidence with a systematic approach accompanied with a lot of common sense and not drilling mindlessly, STEM is not something to be memorized and then forgotten but a tool for life. In my experience recognizing what the question is asking for is the first step then being able to sort w... Read more
