Accounting and finance are two topics with which I am very familiar. I was a career banker for 30 years and about half that time was spent lending to large and small businesses with a bit of personal lending thrown in the mix. My MBA and PhD provided plenty of academic background in these subjects and I have taken a number of courses and seminars in these subjects more recently, As these subjects have become increasingly mathematical in their approach, I have found my own strong math background incredibly valuable in understanding the more quantitative approaches to these subjects. "If it were easy, everyone would do it." Math isn't easy. Maybe for a precious few it's easy (and even for them there are some problems that are too hard to crack!), but for most of us it takes lots of practice. I'd put myself in the latter category. I consider myself fortunate to be able to go to college and study math for four years. I graduated magna cum laude with high honors in computer science. Never in high school did I think I would study math (I thought I was a physics or English guy... Read more

I'm 27 years old and a CPA candidate. I've been tutoring math since I was in high school. One of my favorite feelings is watching the light bulb go off when a student finally masters a concept. Math is truly my passion. My major in college was Business Economics with an Accounting Emphasis, but I added on a Math Minor for fun. I truly hope I can help you share the joy I have for this subject. Whether you're in middle school studying prealgebra, in high school studying trigonometry and preca... Read more
