At Wharton, I was a TA for asset pricing, stochastic processes, applied statistics and empirical finance. I then worked on Wall Street for 4 years before starting my own small business. In my sell-side days I passed Series 7 and 3. I have worked in proprietary analytical systems and commercial software like Matlab, R, SAS and Stata. I do enjoy consulting and teaching. They... Experienced Math, Technology, and Programming Tutor
I've worked in a tutoring or teaching role for most of my adult life, and I love helping other people learn! While earning my B.S. in math, I worked in my university's math clinic, tutoring a variety of (math) subjects, and while I was in graduate school I was a teaching assistant in the math department for two years, and for one year I worked in a high school geometry classroom, both enriching the students' education and my ability to communicate and teach. I've been a private tutor in the ... Read more

When I was in first grade, I had spent a whole afternoon listing as many natural numbers (1, 2, 3,...) as I could. As the numbers got longer, my notebook became messier and I realized that no matter how long I worked I would never reach the end. This fact is one among the many surprises that I have found while doing mathematics so far in my life. Another surprise is the value of pi. The idea that the pattern of digits in this holy number never repeats is quite surprising. But, for me, more su... Read more

I like putting fun and relevance into learning math.
I have a degree in Education from U Maine-Machias. I have taught high school and/or middle level math for fifty years. During that time I have worked with many different learning styles with a great deal of success. I have also spent many summers working with high school math departments throughout the country. I worked with these teachers to help them develop their math curriculum while using best teaching practices. I am highly qualified. I have tutored math students off and on for the past forty years. I prefer to work with these students on a one to one basis. I spend the first session determining their learning style and then needs. From this point we will progress at their rate until they a comfortable with the topic. I believe a lot of this success is determined by the relationship that is forged between the student and teacher. I look forward to helping your young mathematician develop a respect and understanding of math-which is not a dirty four letter word. Thanks for the opportunity. Read more
