Susann
Retired college English teacher
I have taught English at Paul Quinn College and TSTC in Waco. I love literature and writing and enjoy making grammar and sentence structure seem easy for my students. Because I love learning and travel, I am starting a new career in Jungian analysis by training in Switzerland at the C. G. Jung Institute. Having a good background in literature and knowing how to write has made it possible for me to have an interesting and productive life even after retiring. I hope to share my love of learni... Don't study math... visualize and play with it!
I don't believe in a standard approach to math. Yes, it's important to learn the proper vocab and symbols but I don't think that's useful when it comes before instilling an understanding of the mechanics behind it all. I taught within the system as a public high school math teacher for five years before my frustration with standardization became unbearable. A student needs to bring their experiences and perspectives into their learning for any of it to matter. No standardized curriculum or as... Read more

I've been there, I've done that.
I am a semi-retired logistics supervisor. My degree is in Mathematics, but I have wide interests and believe that life is about learning. When you understand something, it becomes much easier and more to do. Solomon said, "I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work." So it is with study. Finding reason to enjoy the subject is often the key to learning. Memorizing facts will pass a test, but understanding their importance is the first step to mastering the subject... Read more
Joshua
Classical Latin & Greek Tutor
I graduated cum laude, Alpha Chi, from Baylor University, in 2012. I studied Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Akkadian, Ugaritic, Aramaic, Anglo-Saxon, and Linguistics. It is my hope that students learn ancient language not as a mere code system for English but that they rather become proficient in the paradigm provided by the language itself. That is to say that they begin to understand the language on its own terms, which will naturally make it more intuitive and less mechanical. I do not believe ... Read more
