I highly recommend John as a math tutor. He is professional, easy to communicate with, flexible with scheduling, and good at explaining difficult concepts. While typical math tutors are great, I was looking for a tutor who could provide my son with a little different approach to math than typical classroom teaching. I think John's professional background has really helped him to do that. He's also good at switching gears, whether my son needs help with homework, a test at school, or preparing for the ACT. My son says John is also good at identifying with the student's skill level. When researching tutors, John's name came up, we contacted and met him, and the location was perfect as he lives less than 3 miles from us. John is extremely patient with our 17 year old son (senior in high school), and pointed out several key steps that were being missed in the equations. John is an absolutely "gifted" stats professor. I hesitate to call him a tutor, because that would imply that I, as a student brought a certain amount of knowledge to the table. I didn't. In fact, I hadn't had statistics before and had not had any advanced math courses.
