I contacted Ian for very specific training in either InDesign or Illustrator. I did not know which would best fit my needs of the moment. Since we live at opposite ends of the valley and we both have laptops, we met at an agreed location in between. He determined InDesign was best for me at this time and then spent three hours (my parameters) giving me basics for an overview and then addressing my needs. Ian knows how to teach in a language you understand. By this I mean that, with my knowledge in the computer world, I stand on the edge of a precipice, sometimes understanding and many times not having a clue and feeling like I am dropping fast. He helped me to understand and grasp what I was learning. He was thorough and patient and quite knowledgeable, knowing both the Mac and the PC. The part that has made this training completely worthwhile for me is his follow-up. Of course I took notes, but when I got home I found they were not as thorough as I would have liked. I should have taped the training. And I was not able to work on it for several days after the training, so, naturally, I forgot quite a bit. Ian has graciously worked with me by email; still showing his patience. I email my dilemma and he emails my options, articulately presented. He helps me work through any problems I might be having. Bottom line is that I am very pleased with the the training that Ian gave me. I would be happy to recommend him to whoever inquires.

Ian came over to assist our daughter with her Photo Editing. We gave her Photoshop Elements for Christmas, but she was intimidated to learn on her own. I had my first HTML/CSS lesson with Ian, for 2 hours. It went very well. Ian has a very fluid yet structured approach in his teaching style. He interviewed me first to clearly understand what I was looking to learn and how much I already knew. He used the rest of the time to help me understand concepts that I will need to have in order to build any website. What I most appreciate is he understands getting right down to business and not wasting my time with topics I'm not yet ready for and being candid about which topics will be shared later after I've learned basics.
