James
Masters in physics, 16 years tutoring, 8 years online tutoring.
I specialize in college math, physics and physical chemistry courses. Very few tutors are willing to help with these classes. If you need help with Calculus 3, differential equations, linear algebra, Mechanics, E&M, Modern Physics, Physical Chemistry, I'm your guy. My top priority is to give you a conceptual understanding of the material (as opposed to rote memorization). I do this by asking you questions to gauge your understanding. Then I assign tailored problems (often which I make up ...

He is very knowledgeable and he's a great tutor. My son is actually looking forward to studying with him and I will definitely recommend him as a tutor.

My son has really enjoyed working with James, and says he's like having a "really smart friend." James was able to quickly assess my son's level of ability and comprehension of the topic at hand. Friendly, outgoing, asks a lot of questions (like, "How did you come to that conclusion? Tell me what your reasoning is.") and keeps things moving. Always timely.

I never met a tutor who actually cared about the importance of understanding the concepts versus memorizing for tests. Great energy and very helpful.
Margaret B. from Newbury Park, CA
James went over what to practice and what to memorize. He knows multiple ways to explain concepts. He patiently helps you until you understand before he moves on to the next concept.
Margo H. from Pittsburgh, PA
James has been patient with my son and my son is loving math. What a change. When you like the subject, the grade improves. Thank you James

James is a great physics guide. He breaks down the concepts well and helped me get a clearer understanding on what I'm up against.
McKenzie F. from Newbury Park, CA
James tutors me in calculus several times a week, and although I am extremely slow to understand the concepts he is always patient and encouraging.

My son liked working with James, and we will continue using his service on possibly regular or on-demand schedule.
Matt K. from Simi Valley, CA
Not only did James teach me about applied physics, but he made the concepts very easy to understand. I recommend anyone struggling with physics to go to James. The mathematics behind it is now much easier to understand, and I could not feel more prepared!

James is helping my 9th grade son to learn proofs. He is going beyond what the Geometry teacher can teach the kids, and is basically helping my son to learn how to think about proofs, in general, from a fundamental problem solving strategy point of view, rather than simply learning to solve one given problem. This thought process will transfer to many other lessons in school, and likely in life. Although he is having my son step back to go forward to learn his strategy, it is worth it for his future success and is part of a longer term process that we will engage in.

You can tell right away that James loves to teach. He was a perfect match for my son. He knows his stuff. He does not lecture. Instead, he gives you tools to help solve a math problem. Very professional but yet warm. Thank you James!
