I build math and science visually from the bottom-up.
I've always enjoyed math ... it's like a puzzle. You have to be very careful and move step-by-step toward the solution using basic rules. It's exciting when you solve a complicated problem by breaking it down into the basic parts, use the rules to deal with each part sequentially, and then put it all together to get an answer that actually makes sense!
