She really cares about her students' understanding and genuinely wants her subject to be learned. Some students just want to get good grades, but Mariana goes beyond how to get a good grade- she explains the "why" behind the answers to problems. She expects effort from her students, but she gives her full effort in return. She gave up a high-paying job at a pharmaceutical company to become a teacher because she believes in the future generation and she wants the future to have educated people. She assigns homework exercises, but they are fun to do if you understand the concepts, and Mariana does well making sure you do. Some students may have difficulties with her accent when she pronounces words that could easily sound like different words when one syllable changes, but a quick clarifying question should clear up any confusion a student may have. Overall, she is a very good choice for a tutor if you are interested in completely understanding the subject matter rather than simply receiving an A in school. She isn't a good choice for you if you just want to get an A, get the answers easily, and do little to no work. She will make you do work and she will ask you questions until you really get it, but she offers a lot for how little she charges for sessions.
