Although I have been a naturalist all my life, I didn't start serious study until I went to Moss Landing Marine Laboratory, followed by a summer working in the Yosemite back country. I have also lived and worked at Lake Tahoe, San Francisco and Marin, Alpine, Amador, Alameda, Calaveras, and Tuolumne Counties.
