Jacqueline

Credentialed Teacher with 18 years experience

Hi and welcome to my profile page. I worked as a credentialed elementary school teacher for seventeen (17) years. I left in June to pursue other interests in education but I still have the passion to work with students and to teach. Nothing is more satisfying for a teacher than to see a student have a breakthrough and understand a skill they have been taught. My specialties lie in reading, the writing process, test taking skills and language acquisition. A large percentage of my students...

ADD/ADHD

I worked as a credentialed classroom teacher for many years. My school practiced mainstreaming so several of my students were ADD/ADHD. I also taught ADD/ADHD students before they were identified. I am patient with these students and have developed strategies to make learning easier.

Upon meeting her for the first time she was very personable. Usually my son isn't that happy about learning. On the first visit she tried different strategies to get a response. At the end of the tutoring session he completed some of the work she gave him. Which is very good for him seeing as though he usually cries his way out of everything. She gave him flash cards for sight words and when she left he was eager to go over a few!!!!! I think this will be a great fit.

In such a short time I have seen improvement with my daughter. She is motivated to do her homework. My daughter wants learn and do better in school. Thank you Jacqueline.

Jacqueline is great with my six year old daughter! My daughter is having problems reading and writing correctly and has improved so much since Jacqueline started with us about 7 weeks ago. She is very kind and has a great way of explaining that she is here to help not to grade like the teacher.

I got incredibly lucky finding Jackie by simply browsing the internet for English tutors. She was an LAUSD elementary school teacher for 17 years - what more can you ask for?!? She charges less than many recent college graduates, but has far more relevant experience. She can tutor anyone of any age in English (she even has extensive ESL experience), but I needed someone who could patiently teach my easily distracted 1st grader the basics of reading. I've never seen my daughter sit still for 2 hours 1:1 before Jackie! My daughter has blossomed after just 6 weeks and is now a beginner reader and one of the more advanced students in her class. I can't be happier with Jackie and plan to continue the tutoring sessions for the rest of the school year.
