I have tutored two young students who struggled with handwriting, taking them from writing very poorly and with difficulty to a fully functional writing ability. I have used the Handwriting Without Tears program extensively, as well as others. I have also combined that program with free-writing exercises, copy work, drawing, and other exercises as needed by the students. I have been informally trained in this area by a Lindamood Bell trained teacher.

Out of desperation to find a tutor for my 5 year old daughter, I came across WyzAnt and Angie S. Let me tell you what a perfect match this was! My daughter was not accepted into Stratford School due to her lack of knowledge in the English language, and comprehension of phonics. My wife and I were devastated. Not so much that she was not accepted, but rather the fact that she is to start kindergarten in 2 months, and we don't want her to miss out on curriculum because she doesn't understand what the teacher is saying. She simply does not get the English exposure she needs to thrive in school at home. We found WyzAnt, and immediately I went to work; combing through profiles of individuals that met the needs of my daughter. I came across Angie S., and was instantly confident that I had found the best. However, I still had to close my wife, the skeptic, that I found a complete stranger to coach our child. I sat her down in front of the computer, and asked her to critically comb through the profiles and read them to their entirety, and let me know who she came up with. She spun her chair around and said, "I like Angie S." I was immediately convinced we had found a winner! Our first meeting was great, as I let her know I was going to be in my car in front of her house, since my wife was still nervous. I started my work day in the car waiting, making calls, and answering emails while my daughter was in session. I came up to the door, and heard my daughter conversing with Angie, and was overcome with happiness that she was embracing the lesson. It has only been three lessons, and I can already feel the confidence in speaking with my daughter in English. Thanks a million Angie! We look forward to her future lessons!

We have been in the San Jose area for a little over of 2 months from Eastern Europe with 2 kids – 11 and 10 years old. Kids were studying English for some time before but had trouble speaking and had read only 2 small books before. We were really lucky to have Angie as a tutor for our kids for this period of intensive language training since we achieved tremendous results for such a short period. Both kids started to speak and are not afraid to communicate with adults and kids and both started to read English books on daily basis (40+ books in total for the period). Angie did a really great job in training the kids in reading, writing and speaking. I only hope that we were able to stay in the area longer to have more lessons. We are really happy from the results achieved and hope this will be the foundation for further English study for our kids! Highly recommend Angie as a tutor!

My 4 year old has had 6 lessons with Angie now working mainly on phonics and a little bit on numbers to prepare her for an assessment test for Kindergarten.
