CBEST
I am a student at Northridge University. (CSUN) working on my teaching credential in Special Education. I have recently passed the CBEST with a score of 190. The passing score is 123. I am a professional writer and published author, so I am particularly qualified to assist you if you need help on the writing portion of the test. Also, I have passed all three sections of the CSET Test, in case you need help with that as well. (That includes Literature, History, Reading, Mathematics, Art and Physical Education as well as some teaching techniques.) I am familiar with the art of taking these types of tests. If you are interested in getting some help but you are short on time I can work with you to solve this issue.
autism
Currently a graduate student in special education, I have completed courses and practicum on teaching students with mild-moderate autism spectrum disorder (ASD). As needed, I can provide recommendations from my professors and master teachers who comment that I have a particularly excellent rapport with exceptional students. My methods include individually tailored lesson plans aligned with the Common Core standards that are given after assessing student's needs and learning style.
Aspergers
As a professional in the field of special education, I work with students who have Aspergers (also known as high functioning autism or mild-moderate ASD). Using only evidence based (proven) teaching methods I address all aspects of a student's development. This includes social, emotional, artistic and physical health as well as academic knowledge based on the common core standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics. I am one of few teachers who are trained in the most up-to-date research-based practices in each of these subjects. Generally, I work with elementary students but I’m also a qualified and experienced tutor for middle and high school students. With structured lessons, I teach using the learning style(s) of each individual student (kinesthetic, visual, auditory or tactile) and teach study skills. As one of very few educators who are skilled all of these aspects of development, a student who has ASD can be comfortable to discover his or her unique abilities and develop new skills. I follow the direct instruction model, which is an evidence based best teaching practice. To explain all of this in simpler words, I speak the language of the children, understand their particular interests and needs, explain and model the skill patiently, step-by-step, then we practice over and over until they've got it. My caring and respectful rapport with each student improves the ability to achieve set goals.
ADD/ADHD
As a graduate of Tufts University and a teacher or tutor for many years, I have gained a wealth of experience in working with teenagers who have ADD or other learning challenges. Currently, I am working on my special education teaching credential and Masters degree. My methods involve testing the student to discover what type of learning method is best. Most ADD/ADHD students are kinesthetic learners in my experience, which means they require movement and real life examples to grasp the material with full understanding. I teach the fundamentals of each subject with application in real life. I also teach how to study/coping skills in school for ADD/ADHD students. I also teach vocabulary /key words of each subject using the study style that best applies for the student. This gives the student a real advantage. When needed, I provide remedial or "catch up" tutoring for the ADD student including English and mathematics. At this time I am accepting only 3 students at a time, please contact me right away.

Ms. Tara is a wonderful tutor she's patient smart intelligent and knows how to get your child's attention. Miss Tara is tutoring my son for math and science. Ms. Tara brings joy to learning. Usually my son does not like doing homework but when its presented by Ms. Tara he gets very excited and feel so good about himself getting the right answer. I would definitely recommend Miss Terra is your child's next to her because she is experienced and has a way of getting a child to be so interested in whatever they were having problems with before definitely a five star thank you we appreciate your hard work Ms. Tara.
