After only 3 sessions with Lorena our son has made good progress. They have established a good relationship and he enjoys the lessons. He has been a resistant reader his whole life. Lorena suggested that we pick out 5 books from the library. During their first session they picked out one book that he was most interested in. He reads aloud during the lesson and silently to himself between sessions. When he runs into words he does't know, he writes them down, looks them up and records the definition. This method helps to increase his vocabulary plus reinforce the meaning when he runs across the word again. They have started working on pronunciation as well. Finding the right book, understanding the language and reading the words correctly all have helped with his comprehension, plus he actually enjoys reading. We no longer have to ask him to get his reading done!
