I have been working with children and Adults with autism for over 10 years. I am familiar with ABA modification techniques. I also have 15 years of tutoring as well. Right now I currently tutor two kids with Autism. Both kids are in middle school and I have been working with them for 5 years. So when you work with or tutor a child that has autism, you have to know there strengths and weaknesses. Every child or individual that have autism are not the same. So your tutoring techniques should be catered to that child's needs. When tutoring them you want to always use Positive Behavioral Support plans. When I tutor I use flash cards, hand over hand modification, structure and repetition. I use constant verbal prompts and as he grows I try to fade from the verbal into the non verbal. I find that very useful with my students.
