Kate has now been tutoring our daughter Alisa for several months and we have been very pleased with Kate's tutoring, professionalism, hard work and second most of all her ease with accommodating our special needs and requests for Alisa's lessons. We wanted straight traditional (Flesch) phonics tutoring and Kate has done so with efficiency, skill and enthusiasm. Kate has gone the extra mile to retype Alisa's lessons and to study the literature associated with these lessons. But most of all Kate has improved Alisa's reading significantly and we thank her greatly for this. Besides Kate's evident teaching ability, she is compassionate, thoughtful, flexible; and Alisa, even though at times not wanting to do more study, enjoyed working with Kate and has been motivated to work hard on her reading. We highly recommend Kate as a phonics teacher.

I'm excited to say that with Kathryn's fine help I cleared up what I feel have been the most basic grammar problems I've had since elementary school; heretofore hidden problems that I now realize have inhibited my ability to read and fully comprehend what I've read. Until now I've never been able to find out the exact nature of these problems or how to solve them. These problems have involved unknowingly yet automatically trying to make pictures and objects out of grammatical terms such as participle and subjunctive and also non-action verbs as well as other words for which this can't be done. Kathryn helped me to see how I learn differently. Now that this veil has been lifted I can see why I was such a poor student in school. I'm very excited about these discoveries because now I know I can reeducate myself with confidence. I wouldn't have thought this could be accomplished in so short a time, but with Kathryn's very astute guidance that's what happened. She is definitely a great asset. If I'd had her as a teacher when I was a boy perhaps my life would have turned out differently. I hope she'll be available if I feel I need further help with my studies. Thanks, Kathryn!

Kathryn helped me pass the TOEFL with a high score. She has a very positive and encouraging attitude that's made me feel confident and competent. The best thing is her strong communication skills, both written and oral. She clarified and answered questions regarding written English and also edited, commented on, and provided constructive criticism regarding my written work. Where speaking is concerned, she speaks clearly and enunciates for the benefit of the student, while maintaining a natural and conversational tone. Equally important, she actively creates a trusting atmosphere. She has ample patience which is of the utmost importance because one needs time to formulate thoughts and speech.

My experience with Kathryn has been fantastic for my 14 year old daughter. She has proven to be more than just reliable and prompt. Kathryn is very well read and comes to each session very well prepared. She arrives ready with her research completed and materials for the lesson in hand. She has been able to inspire my ninth-grader to enjoy studying English. She has shown a level of enthusiasm that is infectious, as well as helped develop writing techniques and grammar skills and understanding that were lacking from my daughter's classroom curriculum. In addition, she has been a great sounding board and mentor for my daughter; developing ideas and concepts for writing in her analytical literature course. I'm glad that we found Kathryn. She has been instrumental in my children's ability to learn and retain skills that I'm sure will prove to be invaluable.
