Alisa

Tutor of Russian, Piano and English

Hi, my name is Alisa, and I'm a linguaholic! I’m originally from Russia where I majored in linguistics and interpreting of Russian, English, and French. I started teaching English as a private tutor in 2003, and from 2008 to 2010 I worked as an English instructor at a private language school in Russia. This is where I realized that teaching is what I’m most passionate about. I absolutely love it! In late 2010 I became the manager and director of studies at a different private language scho...

My wife has arrived in the States about 6 months ago from Tokyo. She does not have enough experience of English communication, and I asked Alisa to tutor her. Alisa is a talented and experienced teacher. She gives homework and my wife works on it. And then they review and talk about the homework. My wife told me that it is comfortable for her to talk with Alisa. I hope my wife brushes up her English and I appreciate Alisa supporting it.

Alisa is very patient and explains everything very well. I enjoy each session and feel I am making good progress each time.

Alisa gives Russian lessons to my stubborn and cannot-sit-still 5 year-old. He loves her. She is very patient and able to keep a young student engaged and excited during the entire lesson by using games and changing the curriculum based on the child's progress and interests. My son clearly makes progress in mastering Russian but most importantly, he loves studying it! Alisa is an excellent tutor for young kids!

Tutoring sessions are packed with information. She is very patient and knowledgeable. If you want to learn to read, write, and speak Russian in an organized,"no time wasted" setting, I recommend Alisa.

Alisa did a great job teaching the kids piano. She was very patient and adapted to each of the kid's level of ability. She also communicated with me afterwards to setup the next lessons and was very friendly. She also communicates via text, which I love! We are all looking forward to the next lesson!

she understood my needs and she is helping me achieve my goals. I learned a lot with Alisha in only a few lessons. I am really enjoying learning this complicated language:-)

We are so relieved to have found someone to help us preserve our daughter's Russian while she's in an American school. We look forward to many happy lessons together.

I am horrible at learning languages. Even ones where the letters and sounds are the same. Needless to say, I was very frustrated during my first (and, so far, only) lesson with Alisa. However, she was extremely patient and helpful. Despite my difficulties, Alisa made me feel like I will soon improve. As slow as I was, she never was never impatient and that gave me the will to push through. In fact, this morning I have been precticing the words she taught and I am already making progress. If languages are tough for you, I would definitely recommend Alisa.
