I am an early childhood special ed teacher, I have worked with students with Autism and I am aware of the behavior and challenges that children with Autism possess. I gave them extended time, modeling what is needed, and let them know what is expected, through repetition, guidelines, high interest objectives. I have several autistic students presently in my classroom. We deal with the positive behavior approach, the reward system, preferred activities and allow the child to reflect.
