Yelena is a very experienced and hard-working tutor. She is true to her profession and visibly enjoys helping children to understand and love mathematics. Yelena assessed our child’s needs very thoroughly. Yelena did not invent problems and needs in order to get more tutoring hours but rather thoughtfully assessed our child’s high and low areas. Her soft voice and patient manners will calm any anxious child. I believe that Yelena has a systemic approach to math and teaches mathematics as intertwined concepts instead of how to mindlessly repeat several steps. Your child will understand the subject on a new and much higher level. I am a very demanding parent and it is not easy to find a teacher whom I would consider a great professional. I hold teachers to a very high standard and it is not easy to satisfy my demands. Yelena has exceeded all my expectations. Yelena is working with me on a very difficult subject... math. She is patient and she "gets it" --what is needed to teach and and how. Today, (09/03/2013), I showed good signs of learning past my decades of error. Yelena is teaching me, not showing me, how to do math correctly. The difference is this is working. I of course need to do my home work and have the commitment to follow through. This is no easy task, but WyzAnt strikes again another good tutor.
