I was recently faced with the daunting task of taking the Officer Aptitude Rating (OAR) exam in order to be considered for Officer Candidate School in the US Navy. As a UC student in Global Studies and Anthropology, I had taken practically no math or science classes since high school. I had only three months to prepare. I needed to find a tutor who could help me get a passing grade on an exam that could literally change my life. I was very fortunate to to find Geetha on the WyzAnt website. It was immediately evident that she was an experienced teacher. Geetha set up a plan to bring me up to speed in math (fractions, percentages, word problems) including algebra and geometry, as well as physics (e.g. fulcrums, pressure, mechanical comprehension equations and some electronics.) She also spent a great deal of time working with me on reading comprehension. I became proficient and confident in all of these areas and indeed passed my exam. I was told that few candidates pass it on the first try, and I feel that Geetha is largely responsible for my success. I found her to have an impressive knowledge of math, science and English, and to be very patient and thorough in getting the information across. She was excellent at starting at the beginning and explaining the basics before going into more depth on a certain subject. I felt Geetha had a good strategy for success by giving helpful homework assignments to reinforce her lessons, and by not moving forward until she was 100% certain that I had grasped the material. She was also very flexible to fit her lessons in around my busy work schedule. Geetha is gentle and kind and was able to relate to me as a person, not just a student. She was warm and supportive and made me feel that she was vested in my personal success. I am happy to recommend Geetha as a talented teacher and a caring mentor.

My son has been taking tutoring over the summer and does look forward to the tutoring session. Geetha takes time to go over the material and covers most of the assignments and practice questions. At the end of the session my son is confident and can do the homework him self. He is now able to prepare for the tutoring session and only has to rely on the tutor for the more difficult material that he does not understand. Geetha does take time to build a good foundation, so later on the more complex material is easier to understand.
