I have had many French tutors over the years, and Jules is the best. My goal is to improve my listening comprehension and speaking. He started with an assessment of my current level and then planned lessons to work toward my goal. In the past when I have told tutors that I was interested in speaking and listening, they would come to the session without a plan and just talk to me and listen without correcting my mistakes. Jules is completely different. Most of the time he has spoken to me in French, but he is always aware of how much I have understood. When I am speaking, he is positive and encouraging, but also points out the areas in which I need practice. This is exactly what I have needed. I have always done very well in classes that are focused on reading and writing, but the real test of my French ability is during my yearly visits to Paris when I have to use the language every day. Jules has been preparing me for that.
