I had a few bad experiences in middle school and believed the lie that I "wasn't a math person". I spent summers in summer school and working with tutors, and then grew in my self-confidence. My high school algebra 2 teacher completed the process of turning the lights on, and the rest is history. I've been helping out in math ever since.
