We have just started to use Danelle for our 10th grader in AP Euro. It's been a can of worms. As you start digging in, you realize that struggling in school or a subject has many implications beyond just reading a chapter again or doing practice problems. You have inexperienced junior tutors that only know how to just throw work at the problem. In contrast you have someone experienced like Danelle who attacks the problem from many angles. I can't declare victory this early in the process, but I am happy and hopeful now that we are doing something about it. Danelle is multi-dimensional, smart, engaging, and cerebral. It was the week before finals, and an AP European History test that was worth 15% of my final grade was less than days away. Having been taught over 650 years of history, my mind happen to forget a thing or two. Danelle was so quick and eager to respond. Having informed me of her past of not only living, but taking the course, in FRANCE, I couldn't have gone wrong! She didn't teach me from notes or past quizzes; all I had to give her was a packet of dates and she lead my mind to, somehow, connect all events from Columbus 1492 to today's economic struggles. Having a tutor that lived in Europe, who understood the mindset of a struggling teenager, and who was so funny about it was perfect! The best part was that, also being experienced in English and other courses, she was able to tie in some ideas that would be useful for future classes and the AP exam. I had asked for her services on a Tuesday, and by Wednesday she was at my house ready to teach me what my teacher had been doing for two semesters. Overall a wonderful tutor, an experienced historian, an awesome woman. She will definitely be called next year for help with AP US History!
