I have five children, and have employed several tutors throughout the years. Mamiko is tutoring my daughter in a college Japanese I class. I am extremely pleased with how Mamiko approaches each lesson, and how prepared she is. It is like a mini class. Each time, she is ready to teach, not just go over whatever was covered in class. She shows up with flash cards ready to go, and a lesson plan in place. It is one thing to know your subject; knowing how to teach is another skill altogether. Clearly, Mamiko understands teaching! It's not a free ride for my daughter, either. Mamiko makes her work, but she is super sweet, so it is a pleasant experience. My daughter is very happy working with Mamiko, feels more confident, and is comfortable working with her. Mamiko has also given my daughter tips on studying, helped her identify which parts of each chapter are most important and where she should spend her time, and has even given her tips on dealing with college professors, and success at this level. My daughter is a first semester college student, and timid in new situations, so this has been especially helpful. I'd also like to mention that Mamiko is very easy to reach, and responds immediately to emails, texts, or phone calls. She is very flexible, and willing to go out of her way to accommodate the student. I really cannot say enough good things. She is just a delightful lady, and a very dedicated teacher.

Mamiko is terrific, she is personable, accommodating, and knows how to communicate effectively. She has improved my daughter's understanding of the Japanese language as well as her test scores. My daughter is taking Japanese II and currently has an A in the class. She actually looks forward to their tutoring time together. I even hear occasional laughter coming from the room. Mamiko Sensei is a wonderful tutor who was able to quickly identify my strength and weakness in Japanese and tailor each lesson to meet my needs. Mamiko sensei was great in explaining Japanese from the complex grammatical rules to the colloquial phrases. I appreciated how she begins the lesson with a discussion of current events and general conversation in Japanese -- something you won't find in a structured course at the community college.
