Credentialed Teacher + Elementary, Spanish, & Reading Skills Tutor

Hello! I am excited about the opportunity to help you become more successful. Individual tutoring is an excellent way to get one-on-one instructional time that is catered to your educational needs and goals. I think tutoring can boost both grades and confidence; students who believe in themselves then begin to master the material bit by bit once they have the mindset that they can do it! I think encouraging students is vital to success. As your tutor, I can supplement your school's curriculu...

ADD/ADHD

Students with ADD or ADHD often struggle in the classroom to focus, stay on task, and complete assignments. I work with these students to provide accommodations for them. These are different based on each student's individual needs. Tutoring for a student with ADD/ADHD depends on the student and can focus on study skills or strategies for the regular classroom in addition to help with regular assignments and topics of study.

American history

Aspergers

I have personal experience with family members with Aspergers as well as experience with students with Aspergers in the classroom. Students with Aspergers are often very bright, but struggle with social norms and may need special accommodations in the classroom that are also useful in tutoring. This may include repetition and repeated directions, on-task reminders, and the set-up of a special work space. I find that patience is also very important, because students with Aspergers are often very literal and ask lots of directed questions and want explicit explanations. Every student is different, and I can work with you to develop a tutoring plan that best fits your needs.

autism

I have experience working with students with mild autism in a mainstreamed classroom. Autistic students are often very bright, though they may be voracious learners in one subject and struggle more in another because they do not see the value in that type of knowledge. Working with you, we can develop a tutoring plan that best fits your needs, taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of your autistic student and the skill areas they need to focus upon during tutoring lessons.
