Amy is helping my son prepare for the ACT, particularly English. As with most 16 year old boys, my son doesn't want to study for the ACT, even though he knows it's important. Their weekly meetings provide structure and accountability. Amy assigns homework, which expedites learning, making the best use of their time. I like that. Her patience and coaching create a positive learning environment, which my son appreciates. Win. Win. As a writer and editor, I could teach him myself, but he's more attentive and receptive to learning from someone who's not family. She's not only a terrific educator, she's a partner in our goals. Follow-up: My son was consistently scoring 24-25 on the practice ACT tests, but he got a 27 composite on his first ACT test. His highest score was in a 29 in English.

Amy is a very patient and helpful tutor. My daughter has only been to one session with her but she zeroed in on some of her deficiencies and offered useful general advice for taking the SAT and ACT. She wasn't condescending, critical, or rushed, and her explanations were easy to understand. We will be going back! Update: We used Amy for the last few months.
