Hi, I am a professionally licensed Colorado secondary social studies teacher since 2001. Before that, I tutored college students while I was in college myself. As a certified teacher for the past 12 years in Colorado, I have differentiated for numerous special needs students in the classroom. From Asperger's to ADD to students on IEP's and 504's (sorry for the education lingo -- but these are adaptations from the regular curriculum), I typically have about 10-15 special needs students a semester. When I taught middle school, the number of students was much higher. Working with these kids one-on-one has a profound effect and I have the patience to walk them through lessons multiple times if necessary.

Darrick is a wonderful tutor and teacher. He established a working rapport with our daughter that relaxed her and allowed her to understand concepts and strategies in math that had posed obstacles for her. Darrick tutored her on four occasions spread over a six-week period. He prepared her in Math for the ACT test. In her previous attempt, she had scored a 17 on the Math section. She 's just received the results for her latest effort. On it, she scored a 24 on the Math test. She was thrilled--as were we! Other aspects of her ACT improved as well. Her composite score went up by four points, and Darrick K. deserves the credit. This improvement makes her eligible for considerably higher scholarship recognition from the university she is headed to in the fall. We all have nothing but praise for Darrick. He is a professional. He was always prompt, easy to contact, and so respectful of our daughter's learning style. Without hesitation, I give Darrick the very highest recommendation as a tutor.

Darrick has been the best tutor for our daughter! He is patient and knowledgeable regarding all aspects of the ACT exam. He has been able to give her tips and tricks to navigating the test that you cannot get out of any book. He has taught her how to make best use of her time, what to look for to eliminate wrong answers more easily, and has made her aware of ways the test is designed to trick students. He responds to her questions based on his extensive knowledge, not by reading the ACT book to answer her questions. He has been available when we needed to schedule him and was quick to respond to the request for an appointment.

We are making use of Darrick's services to supplement our homeschooling at the second grade level. Darrick brings a lot of experience with both kids and teaching, and is doing a great job at covering the core subject areas. We especially needed somebody who has patience, and an ability to connect with our son at a personal level so as to work with his strengths while addressing his weaknesses. Darrick is doing an exceptional job at this. He has a lot of creative ideas for coming up with different ways to address different study exercises, so as to engage our son while injecting an element of fun.
