study skills

I have taught math and science for almost 20 years and have helped students 'learn how to learn'. In addition I often tutored after school. I have been a tutor for D11, for students who are homebound. In addition to teaching & tutoring, I have been a volunteer in D11 for over 20 years in areas such as coaching for math & science competitions, tutoring, teaching enrichment classes and more. I enjoy teaching students how to learn and analyze. My decades of experience shows I am capable of tutoring study skills.

On March 17th William had another great lesson with Mary! With that being said I would like to thank Mary for all of the time and effort she puts in with William each week. It has so paid off. William just got his report card on Friday and he got an "A" in math!!! William says that Mary has a way of explaining math that just makes everything click for him. So, again, thank you Mary!

Mary is a great tutor. She is patient and very pleasant with my granddaughter. I like how she uses different methods to grab her attention. My granddaughter like Ms. Mary very much.

I sat in on the tutoring for just a short bit because I did not want to be a distraction for my son. She used a lot of flash cards, which might seem elementary for a 9th grader, which my son really engaged in. I have never seen this method of tutoring/teaching and was very impressed. Mary had my son thinking in a matter of moments, working on percents and fractions. For him it was almost a game or competition with himself to place all the cards in the correct order. I am very glad to have found Mary.

Mary Ann has a wide range of tools in her box to use with both my kids and so far, they seem to be challenged and experiencing success, which I want for them - to learn skills and become more confident learners.

Jackie W. from Monument, CO

Mary was very knowledgeable about the 10th grade topics that would be covered, and the order they would occur. She was helpful with current homework problems as well as drills to strengthen skills for future success with upcoming units. She was patient when helping correct remedial skills/concepts. Most of all, Mary was encouraging and presented a "you can do this" attitude.
