I have 18 years of experience with living with and teaching a mentally retarded individual (in the moderate to severe functioning range, with the IQ in the low 40s) with significant speech production difficulties and delays and with multiple sensory integration challenges and autistic symptoms. I have completed several graduate level courses in the areas of autism and speech and hearing through the department of Speech and Hearing at Indiana University and the school of Education at Indiana University and audited several more relevant classes in these departments.
