I am an art teacher K-12 grades. I have 20+ years of teaching experience and have been producing art since I could use a drawing implement. I am a published illustrator and writer of comic books, I have produced sculpture, public murals, painted public works of art and I am fluent in graphic design and Adobe programs. Adobe Photoshop
I have an A. A. S. degree in Visual Communications (Graphic Design) from the Art Institute in Denver Colorado. This degree had a focus in Adobe programs. I have since kept up with Adobe Creative Suite and have the most recent version (with Photoshop) on my Macbook Air. I am constantly using Photoshop as a freelance artist, a photographer and to optimize the resolution of my portfolio pieces.

When our lesson started we got on subject right away. He is very good at finding where to start and builds the lesson along in manageable steps that flow well. The homework is a natural progression of the lesson and is a great steppingstone to the next lesson. We have fun covering a subject that we both enjoy.

My son, age 11, has had 4 art sessions with Tom. From the beginning, Tom has helped N discover and verbalize what subject matter, art techniques, and skills he wants to work on and improve. They work together nicely with Tom giving valuable detailed instruction along the way and teaching N to self-evaluate his own work. In addition, Tom and N work as a team to come up with ideas for pieces to work on for the following lesson. Tom goes above and beyond in motivating N and has made himself available outside of the session to provide feedback. Tom works well with kids, is very knowledgeable, and is a talented teacher.
