Special needs experience

Hello there! I have been working with children for over 13 years. I have helped many children with their homework and even worked as a para-educator for several years. Aspergers

I have been a nanny to a boy with ASD for the last 3 years. They do not categorize them as Asperger's anymore, instead the are on the spectrum. I helped him with his homework, daily tasks, therapies, etc. He is one of the most amazing, smart children I know, he just has trouble with theory of mind and empathy. His brain processes information differently and needed to have his teaching adapted to that. I have also written many papers, including my senior thesis, on the development and cognitive processes of ASD.

autism

As mentioned in my qualifications for Aspbergers, ASD is a spectrum. There are highly functioning, and low functioning aspects. I adapt my teaching based on the individual child's needs. My studies in college have mostly been based on ASD and it is something I am passionate about. I have worked with a non-verbal 6 year old and taught him to say "Ash" when referring to me. I also taught him to say his sounds. He just needed understanding and patience.
