I have been teaching in the same CT public school since 2000--mainly 6th grade math, but I have also taught 5th grade early on in my career. I have been teaching 6th grade math since 2005 in a shoreline school which follows the Common Core. I have worked and taught through the CC since it's early beginnings, and I see how many students struggle.
