ADD/ADHD

I am a practicing school psychologist who has the opportunity to provide interventions and strategies to students with a variety of disabilities. I have been trained in assessing, classifying, and supporting students with exceptionality. I have worked directly with students diagnosed with ADHD by building executive (planning, organization, self-awareness) and academic skills and consulted with school staff on instructional methods. I have also been in the position to classify students as eligible for special education for significant attention challenges.

Aspergers

As a school psychologist, I have worked directly with students diagnosed with Asperger's (ages K-12) and consulted with school staff on best practice academic/behavior strategies. I find it is helpful to learn what motivates students to engage and use their interests/strengths to guide the learning process. Establishing a good working relationship and comfort level has been very important. I have really enjoyed helping students with Asperger's to continue to build their academic and social skills in a supportive way! As a tutor at Rhode Island College, I worked with a student diagnosed with Asperger's on strategies to improve executive skills (planning, organization, self-awareness, persisting on/completing assignments), coping skills for nervousness, following the course syllabus, and maintaining focus on the purpose/goal of assignments.

Kathi P. from Monroe, CT

Ryan is very easy to talk to and makes tutoring nearly painless. He makes you feel like you can actually talk to him about your problems academically, and he reciprocates by giving extremely useful tips and techniques to help me achieve the goals I set forward.

My son's first session with him seems to have been a success! Looking forward to see how my son grows and learns from this experience!
