I have a Special Needs son who is ADD/ADHD and OCD. He has Short Term memory loss and has disgraphia. He also has perceptual vision problems. All of these issues cause multiple problems in learning. I have worked with special needs children for many years in the classroom. With dyslexia, the individual experiences the inability to gather information from conventional print. Some children with dyslexia are gifted learners. They just need the tools to make sense of the written language.
