ADD/ADHD
I was a paraprofessional in Special Education at Pomperaug High School (Region 15, Southbury, CT), working specifically with ADD/ADHD as well as autistic and Aspergers students one-on-one and in small-groups. Before that, I taught in public and independent schools as English and Literacy teacher (over six years total), in mixed classrooms. In Literacy class, I dealt with multiple learning disabilities and underwent specialized, ongoing training as well as teaching weekend classes for special needs. I have established tutoring and small-group learning services in NYC and here in CT, working with all-age students, including those with various special needs, over more than six years.
Aspergers
I have worked as a paraprofessional in Special Education at a high school working specifically with autistic and Aspergers students one-on-one or in small-groups. I have also worked in public and independent schools as English and Literacy teacher, in mixed classrooms. I worked one-on-one and in a small-group writing workshop with a teenage student who had Aspergers, at a school where I worked from 2008-2011. She was an excellent writer, and improved during our workshop sessions.
autism
I have worked specifically with autistic and Aspergers students, one-on-one and in small-groups, during my time in the Special Education department at a High School in CT. In my independent learning service business, offering one-on-one and small group instruction in NYC and here in CT for a total of over six years, I have worked with a number of special needs students, including those on the autism spectrum. I have also worked in public and independent schools as a licensed English and specially-trained Literacy teacher, over a period of more than six years.

Zachary worked with my son to improve his critical Reading SAT score. He planned lessons that addressed his individual needs and got him involved in the learning process. My son felt that he was more confident going into the SAT and performed much better than his previous try.
