reading
When young, I had difficulty reading. Tutoring helped me learn how to read, working around my difficulties. I went on to earn a doctorate in Romance Languages and Literature. Although I still fall asleep after about 30 minutes reading, I love learning, and still read (and nap) voraciously!
writing
I have a PhD in French literature and spent many years learning to write well. In my experience, a well thought out plan of what is to be written will result in good writing. A poorly thought out plan of what is to be written can never be dressed up with words, no matter how cleverly crafted, and will always be poorly written.
