Rob

Amazing Tutor for Advanced Math, Accounting, and Science

Greetings! My name is Robert, and I am an educator with two Master's degrees. In addition to having been a graduate assistant, I have been in this field for more than 5 years, and have greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with many different students. I have previously worked as a math instructor and a tutor for secondary and college-level students. Math is what I studied in college and is the subject that I am the most comfortable tutoring. However, I received a liberal arts educatio...

Rob was great to work with and very helpful to my son. If we ever need another tutor for math or science, we will go to Rob first.

Jacqueline G. from East Hartford, CT

I was very pleased that Rob was able to come and help my son on such short notice. I 'am sorry that I didn't contact WyzAnt sooner. Rob is extremely intelligent and generous with his knowledge. My son will gain confidence and be encouraged to succeed in mathematics. Thank you.

My son was failing Discrete Math at the end of last semester. We contacted Rob and he was able to accommodate a crash-tutoring program - 3 times a week - until my son's grade went from a D to a B+. This semester Rob is tutoring him on a regular basis in Probability/Statistics, and I'm happy to report that they are both doing a great job! Rob is smart, patient, and very dependable. I'm delighted that we found him.

Very glad we found Rob to help out! He is patient, calmly persistent, and very supportive. He is very willing to meet at our home or any other convenient location. Much appreciated.

Rob is not a high-quality tutor. You will not feel like a valued customer. We met on the same day, same time each week for many weeks and he consistently showed up late without apology. One week he never showed up, claiming he’d forgotten to schedule me in! He would consistently check the clock, never going a minute past our scheduled time. I was not a priority. He was always unprepared to our lessons, not even bringing a pencil or paper. I supplied the test workbook, but he never brought in supplementary materials for areas I had clearly struggled in. He seemed more focused on moving through the text, rather than ensuring I had a clear understanding. During our meetings, I felt he was annoyed with the questions I asked about the material, as he would sigh and have an annoyed tone as he answered my question as if I should have already known. Rob is not involved. He would spend a lot of time on his cell phone, as I struggled on my own to complete questions. If I asked a question, I had to wait, as he would finish on his cell phone first, then attend to me. He has poor teaching and communication skills. He has a high level of education in math and obviously, zero experience in teaching methods, this is highly evident through his tutoring sessions. He struggled to explain the material to me at a level I could understand. Many times, he referred to many math terms and concepts I did not know and was frustrated when I asked for a different explanation. His explanations were confusing and filled with many long pauses that I could not follow. He was insulting to my intelligence. I contacted him to prepare me for the GRE: Math. He took it upon himself to explain that I would never have a deep conceptual understanding of math. He constantly inferred that I would not be a sufficient elementary mathematics teacher. I believe this was crossing the line. Not only does the GRE have nothing to do with my teaching certification, as a tutor who should be building their students’ confidence, he did the opposite. If you are strictly looking for a tutor with a knowledge of math, like a dictionary, without any guidance, support, or ability to explain the material then Rob is your top pick. If you are looking for the full tutoring experience, complete with a prepared and engaged educator with teaching skills, I highly suggest you look elsewhere.

He teaches in an understanding and easy way and he helped me accomplish basic and difficult subjects. He is very good and he can help with any thing and I do wish to keep him tutoring me for future subjects.

This was my second time with Rob. Our first time together he helped me salvage my grade in College Algebra although due to my putting off getting a tutor for so long I didn't get the needed grade to advance. So this summer I retook it and met with Rob early on. He helped prepare me excellently for my final two exams, quiz, and cumulative final. He is flexible, helpful, and committed to helping you understand your material.

Julie W. from Manchester, CT

He took his time to explain everything that I need to know. This will help me reach my goal. Also, I'll be more comfortable doing math.

Catherine N. from West Hartford, CT

My son comes home from his tutoring with Rob energized and confident. Rob is tutoring him in college statistics.

Lorraine K. from Delray Beach, FL

Rob was my son's chemistry tutor. He changed schools and had 6 weeks of Chemistry to catch up on. Rob worked with him as much as he needed and my son received an "A" on the exam and work handed in. Very impressed by Rob.

Raiwant S. from Farmington, CT

So I met Rob to discuss Calc. He is very knowledgeable and knows what he is doing. Be sure to ask him exact problems you need answer to because he himself isn't good at going over random problems. The only problem I had with him and was a big one for me is he constantly kept checking his phone. I think it was because he was trying to keep track of time but it could be anything like E-Mail but it was really distracting and impolite. There were times where I personally felt he was getting frustrated because I kept asking him the same question. But other than that this guy is awesome and very intelligent.

Barbara P. from Newington, CT

He is very smart and gets right to work. Its very refreshing finally finding someone who actually knows the work and knows how to teach it.
