Caroline has a positive, upbeat personality that encourages the same qualities in her student. We are only two lessons into the relationship, but so far - so good!

Tutor has a pleasant personality and might be good for kids but does not have a method to teach. She tends to stick with the text book and does not really know how to make the student practice orally the material learned to that point orally. She does not want to check homework unless typed and she's reluctant to read herself to show right pronunciation or to correct student. She does not do any drilling in class, or very little. Student (adult) has to do it by himself at home!

I have been extremely satisfied with my Chinese lessons from Caroline. The lessons have given me a very good foundation for speaking, reading, and writing Mandarin Chinese, and I continue to make consistent progress through our weekly lessons. Homework assignments have emphasized material from each lesson as well as returning to material from previous lessons for all important review. In addition to the regular lessons from the textbook, we have covered areas that will be important for me in my upcoming trip to China - Chinese currency, food, culture, customs, etc. I feel Caroline has done an excellent job of preparing me for my trip to China.
