Tutoring is fun!

I love to tutor! I am a certified elementary teacher and I have experience tutoring students from Kindergarten through 6th grade. I will tailor my tutoring to meet your child's needs, strengths and interests! Tutoring is a great way to focus on how a child learns and the best way to help your student achieve their goals, whether it be preparing for the next grade in school, working on a concept that is challenging, or just giving them a step up academically. ADD/ADHD

During the time that I spent as a paraprofessional, I worked with students who had ADD/ADHD. Students respond well to information presented visually, and grouping large bits of information into smaller more manageable parts. Students also respond well to movement games that involve learning and activity. Repetition and positive reinforcement lead to success....both are strong motivators!

Aspergers

I have worked with students on the Aspergers spectrum. These students respond to information and materials that are geared to their particular interests, are typically very focused and intent. They tend to like visual materials and chunking materials and information and having fewer choices helps to reduce stress and produce learning results. I also have a teaching degree in teaching elementary school (K-6).

autism

My youngest son has autism, and I worked as a paraprofessional in an autistic support classroom. Presenting information in small chunks, frequent breaks, visuals, lots of practice and repetition, and motivators tailored to the child's interest seem to work well in helping the student to retain and learn information.
