ADD/ADHD
In my thirty years of working in education, I have had considerable experience working with special needs ( ADD/ADHD, Aspergers, etc.) students in both the public school and private school setting. In addition to teaching Math, I have worked as a one-on-one aide, an inclusion aide, and supervised both the middle school and high school resource rooms. To foster the desired behavior, I try to make clear and specific requests and provide an abundance of positive feedback for accomplishing the desired result. I clearly outline consequence for undesired behavior & follow through. I try to individualize my approach to meet the specific needs of each student. Working together with the student, we develop a plan to utilize their strengths and to remain focused on their goal, so that they could master difficult or uncomfortable tasks.
