Kathryn is an exceptional tutor in that she does not let her pupil get around doing the work -- before she lets my nephew progress, he has to demonstrate a firm grasp of the material in multiple ways. She is patient and helpful and very good at getting an unmotivated student interested in learning. She doesn't enable my nephew by making it easy for him -- instead she challenges him in helpful and well-informed ways. She is also very committed to her students -- Kathryn has gone so far as to help my nephew remember things by setting up alarms in his phone, and she checks his grades online and follows up with him to make sure he's staying up to date on homework. Kathryn really cares about her pupils and she has made a real difference in my nephew's life. He was a kid who didn't like math and didn't think he could "get it." Now he's a student who is confidently headed into Geometry and, in his own words, "looks forward to working with Kathryn again next year."
