Doing what I love: teaching, training, interacting with people.
I retired from the army after 28 years of active and reserve military service, so now I have time to do privately what I did for the army for so many years: teach and train people. I love the Spanish language and culture, and it is my culture. I was raised and educated in that culture and language so I know it intimately. For many years I presented seminars in Spanish in Central and South America as well as the Caribbean on many subjects to adults of all ranks, from the youngest to the gen...

TOEFL
I have being taking English classes since I was 6 years old, all the way to the second year of college. It ranged from the basics, of course, to grammar, phrases, and literature. Some of the requirements for graduation were to write poems, essays and opinions on novels or scripts and the history of literature in the United States, Spain and Puerto Rico. I hold a bachelor's degree in Political Science with minors in French, Spanish and English. I have been teaching English as a second language (ESL) for over a year now. It started with a friend and fellow teacher's request to teach 2 Spanish-speaking small business owners which wanted to speak English fluently to communicate with their customers. They are the ones which have inspired me to add this subject here at WyzAnt and to help folks with their TOEFL, to give others the opportunity to learn with me. They are very satisfied and continue to meet me once or twice a week for lessons. What they like the most about my lessons is that I don't teach using boring grammar, verb conjugation and other ineffective school methods. I add to their vocabulary, follow a dialog-based English-teaching method, use a balanced approach between conversation, writing, listening and reading. Also, very important, I especially explain to them, in Spanish, the origin and meaning of the many American phrases. They constantly hear these phrases and understand the words, but not the meaning. We use lots of phrases in the USA and not knowing them is knowing only half of the language and not understanding important parts of the culture. I also tell them and explain parts of the culture they have questions about. A Spanish immigrant's point of view is very different from other culture's views. I know it because I am from that culture too, but I am also part of this one. Hope to hear from you!

Series 7
I am a stockbroker and have been licensed, series 7, since 1993. In 1994, I got my insurance license which allows me to provide advice on annuities, life and health insurance in the state of Florida. Shortly after, I took and passed the series 63 license, which allows me to work in all fifty states of the union. So, as you can see, I have been improving my skills and knowledge ever since I left active duty with the Army. I continued my service in the Army as a Special Operations Reserve officer while getting the licenses mentioned above. That tells you about my discipline, methodology and tenacity in achieving goals. So, I bring you experience as a veteran broker, the methods to achieve your goals and the selfless desire to help you get your broker license and start a tough, but rewarding career as a stockbroker or financial advisor. I am experienced in: preparing financial plans, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), UITs, stocks, bonds, compliance, mutual funds, basic options, annuities, life insurance, and many other products. The series 7 test is one of the longest and hardest tests in the country. It can take a whole day, morning and afternoon, and the stockbroker’s manual used to be one volume and last I looked it was two volumes now. I studied for a month straight, every day, to pass it. But I did not have any experienced person helping me. I just took a two-week course with a broker and several sample tests until I scored over 70% and felt ready. Very few people take the test only once and pass the first time; it is common to take it several times. I passed the first time. Hope to hear from you soon. Let’s do it.

Leo is extremely personable. He is clearly competent and very experienced. My son liked him very much (I did too) and he immediately understood the approach my son's teacher is using. We will continue to meet with Leo regularly.
DIANA R. from Tampa, FL
Leonardo really helped my daughter get a better understanding of a Spanish assignment. She was completely lost after her regular teacher's instructions and then Leonardo cleared up the confusion. Thanks

Leo has been helpful because he is knowledgeable in the Finance field; he explained problems in detail so that I able to understand in order to solve them for myself.
