My favorite part of teaching reading has always been the one on one instruction. Teaching a student to read, write, and love stories is one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done. We make alphabet books if we need letter work, we make sticker stories, and we read lots of patterned, leveled stories to build our confidence and skill.
