First of all, for the parents who debate if their child should be tested for a learning disability, I encourage you to research and look into it. I was skeptical, but I had to recognize the symptoms, especially when I noticed my son giving up, hiding failing graded papers, just struggling. If that is your child, understand that it isn't a negative label, nor does the school make them feel inadequate. Prior to Janice's tutoring assistance, my son has struggled academically since Kindergarten. He has ALWAYS had issues with reading comprehension more than anything, which is the one area that applies to all areas of academics. Every year, when my son takes the CRCT, he barely passes in the comprehension area. I couldn't get him to read, and when I did, he would read, and read, and not know what he had just read. The first part of the year, he was failing a few subjects, and I knew (if he passed to 6th grade) he wasn't going to make it in middle school with more responsibilities. Janice has been a tremendous blessing in my family's life. From day one, she carefully zoned in on my son's specific needs. She encouraged me to get him tested for learning disabilities based on the trouble he was having academically, but more so because of how the accommodations she was incorporating through his tutoring sessions were improving his skills. She guided me every step of the way, even accompanying me to his IEP meetings to ensure the school was doing everything on their end to set my son up for success. The teacher, school psychologist and special education department performed thorough testing with my son over a period of a few weeks. My son was diagnosed with a disability with his working memory. He is a very intelligent young boy, but just has a different learning style. Last week I received his progress report, and he now has all A's and B's! I used to ask him what he learned in school, and he would give me brief descriptions, never details. Now, for the first time, he is actually telling me. He was just telling me about immigrants and immigration, the Great Depression and the stock market crash, the roaring 20's. I could not believe my ears. I asked him what he learned in science, and he's telling me about matter and mass. He was struggling in math in the earlier part of the year, because he has trouble remembering the sequences of steps. Now, he brings me his homework to check, and he is explaining the steps to me. He has a whole new level of confidence and we could not be happier with his progress. I hope this review helps those parents who are on the fence about having your child tested. It makes a world of a difference, and can really make or break your child's confidence.

Ms. Janice is a "awesome tutor", she's always on time and prepared to teach my son's lessons. My son is feeling confidence now and reading new words.Trying to sound them out on his own. We will continue with tutoring lessons to boost his learning skills.
