I retired as a controller from a major sales operations for the last 22 years. As the controller, I was responsible for meeting profit objectives for a sales office responsible for $100+M annually in profit from new sales and post sales revenue. As the controller, I managed product pricing to ensure profitable sales, accounts receivables to ensure controlled receivables levels, and elements of sales expenses to maintain profitable margins.
