I have had the pleasure to work with many students whom have ADD and ADHD, as I have served as a teacher and instructor for seven years. In addition, I have a Masters degree in Special Education instruction. Through my training, I have learned to use positive behavior supports for students whom have ADD and/or ADHD. When I work with children whom have ADD/ADHD I use a variety of techniques. 1. Make directions clear and short. Repeat if necessary. 2. Make each task specific; in other words, instead of giving several directions at once, split the directions into smaller steps. 3. Give reminders often, coaxing the child to finish. It is important to complete projects once started to help the child learn to sequence beginning to end. 4. Use interesting materials; hands-on activities, visual and auditory aids. 5. Most of all I am patient, as this is the best strategy for helping a student.

We were tutoring with Jocelyn before WyzAnt and will continue to use her as long as she is available. Our family has used her services now for the past three years and each year she continues to grow in her knowledge. She has helped our special needs student tremendously. Jocelyn has made my son feel very comfortable when she tutors him and they have FUN learning about math, reading etc. I knew she was "the one" tutor because my son immediately hit it off with her and she made him the center of attention. My son is normally shy and reserved, but he was laughing and having fun with her during the session. Also, she has notified of me of some areas that my son needs to focus on more (handwriting, etc), that I wasn't made aware of by his teacher. First of all let me say, the moment my child met Jocelyn he was received with a warm comfortable feeling around her. My son really enjoys going to tutoring with her.
