Elyse

Patient and Knowledgeable Certified Master Teacher

My devotion to teaching stems from my lifelong love of discovery. As a magna cum laude graduate in my undergraduate program and both of my graduate programs, I recognize the need for hard work and dedication to education. That being said, I refuse to believe that hard work and fun are mutually exclusive. As a school teacher and private tutor for the past 25 years, I have helped thousands of young minds along the road to improved academic performance and test scores, while never sacrificing...

ADD/ADHD

I believe that I am uniquely qualified to work with students having these special challenges. My educational background provides me with a toolbox of techniques to apply and my experience provides a context in which to place the efficacy of those tools. During the course of my teaching and tutoring career, I have had the privilege of working successfully with numerous students with ADD and ADHD. I have come away with the understanding that each students needs are unique and that there is no student that cannot be reached with enough perseverance and patience. I am a certified K - 9 teacher in the state of Illinois. I have taught elementary school for 15 years and have tutored students in grades 1 - 6 since I received my degree. Currently I am a full-time teacher, teaching 5th grade science and 6th grade Social Studies.
